Romania joins World Bank's fund for the poorest

14 April 2014

Romania recently joined World Bank’s fund for the poorest, the International Development Association (IDA), and became the 173rd member in this coalition. By signing the agreement with the World Bank, Romania committed to accelerate the fight against extreme poverty.

The Romanian Minister Delegate for Budget and Romania’s Governor of the World Bank Group (WBG), Liviu Voinea signed the agreement during a ceremony in Washington, DC.

IDA is the World Bank’s main instrument for achieving the goals of ending extreme poverty and boosting shared prosperity in the world’s 82 poorest countries—home to nearly one billion people living on less than USD 1.25 per day.
