Romania's Government launches anti-poverty package

Romania’s Government launched yesterday the anti-poverty package, which aims to bring down the number of people who are at risk of poverty by at least 580,000 until 2020.

The package includes 47 social targets. These include the increase in the employment rate of people aged 20-64 to 70%. In 2014, the rate reached 65.7%. Moreover, the school dropout rate should reach 11.3% in 2020, from 18.1% in 2014. The rate of population aged 30-34 who graduates from university should reach 26.7% by 2020.

Some 1.7 million children currently face the risk of poverty, said Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos.
