Update: Romania launches “Explore the Carpathian garden” slogan, public doubts logo uniqueness
(Includes a similar logo in the last paragraph, which has triggered the public debate on the uniqueness of the brand)
Romania has launched its new tourism campaign at the Shanghai World Expo on Thursday, revealing the slogan “Explore the Carpathian Garden', as well as a new logo for the campaign (see picture).
Romania's tourism brand was created by THR – THS based on a market study carried on in Romania and in the eight most important markets, which could supply tourists for the country: Germany, UK, Italy, Russia, Austria, US, France and Hungary.
The study revealed Romania;s most competitive six touristic products: the cultural circuits, the nature, the rural areas, the city breaks, the adventure tourism and the wellness tourism.
The new tourism brand was launched at Romania's pavilion at the World Expo, in the presence of the Romanian tourism minister Elena Udrea, together with Romanian sports legends Nadia Comaneci, Ilie Nastase and Gheorghe Hagi.
UPDATE: Responding to media reports which said Romania's new tourism campaign logo (the leaf) can be found on a company's website as the firm's logo, the Romanian Tourism Ministry said it holds the intellectual rights over the logo. 'I cannot say how works went on for the logo, but we have been guaranteed through contract that the creators of the brand have followed the law," said Elena Udrea, the Romanian tourism minister.
UPDATE: This is the logo which belongs to a transport company and which was compared to Romania's new campaign logo, triggering questions on whether the brand creators have offered Romania a new and unique design for its logo.
