Romania once again joins Hour of Code, a global education movement to be organized in December

23 October 2015

This year’s edition of Hour of Code, a major education event that takes place simultaneously in several regions on the globe, will be organized between December 7 and December 13.

The event encourages students and teachers to discover how simple it is to learn the basics of programming with the help of online tutorials. Animated and interactive, the tutorials feature children’s favorite characters such as Princess Elsa, but also entrepreneurs with online businesses. They are available in 40 languages and students can access them individually, or with their teachers.

All those who want to organize an Hour of Code event in Romania can do so on Hourofcode.com/ro/ro. Also, those who want to participate in the event will have to go online at ro.code.org starting December 7.

ADFABER is the organization designated to handle the event’s organization and promotion in Eastern Europe. The company will support the organizers, and will provide them materials translated into Romanian, and motivational video messages.

At a global level, Hour of Code is supported by top IT companies such as Amazon, Apple, Dropbox, Facebook, Google, LinkedIn, or Microsoft. In Romania, some of the companies that supported the project are Bitdefender, Gameloft, IBM, Intel, and UPC.

More than 100 million students from around the world have taken part in the event so far. Last year, 400,000 students from Romania participated at the event in one week, placing the country at number 10 in the world.
