Romania wants to pay companies to hire more youngsters

07 October 2015

Companies that hire young people with no work experience can get the minimum gross wage for each of these employees paid from the state budget.

Romania’s Senate adopted on October 6 a bill that aims to facilitate access to jobs for young people without experience and reduce the youth unemployment.

According to the bill, companies that hire people aged 16-29 for an indefinite period, will receive monthly the value of the minimum gross salary for each employee and won’t have to pay any social contributions for these employees for 18 months, reports local Mediafax. The companies should keep these employees for at least 36 months, otherwise they will be asked to pay back the state support.

The state will pay this money from the unemployment budget and from European funds. The Chamber of Deputies also needs to approve the bill before it becomes effective.
