Romania plans bike tourism tracks across the country

27 January 2011

Romanian authorities want to create bike tracks for touristic purposes across the country. The Regional Development and Tourism Ministry will be in charge with putting together the bike tracks on existing road infrastructure. Bike tracks will also be created in mountain areas.

Some of these tracks- the national ones- will allow for a trip of 5 to 12 days; the regional ones, for trips of two to five days, while local bike tracks will take only one day to travel through. The ministry's officials say Romania has a high potential for bike tourism, which is currently not exploited due to the lack of infrastructure for bikes.
