Romania plans to export mineral water to Arab countries
The Romanian state wants to export mineral water to the Arab countries.
Authorities plan to exploit mineral water and make profits from selling these resources, similar to other resources such as oil, natural gas or uranium.
Private companies are currently selling mineral water at prices that are over 30 times higher than the price at which they buy it from the state.
Romania's National Mineral Water Company wants to open at least two mineral water bottling plants, reports local Digi24. The company is interested in buying the two bottling units from private companies and plans to revive the Bodoc and Buzias mineral water brands, which have disappeared from the market. It would be the first time in the last 25 years when the Romanian state buys a production unit from private owners.
“We are interested in reviving the old mineral water brands and exporting them,” said Radu Dumitru, general director of the National Mineral Water Company.
Romania could thus sell to Qatar, UAE, Jordan, and even China.
