Romania posts GDP growth in first quarter, ending recession
Romania posted an economic increase of 0.6 percent in the first quarter of the year compared to the previous quarter, which officially marks its exit from recession, according to data from the Institute of Statistics. The country's Gross Domestic Product went up by 0.3 percent compared to the first quarter of 2010. This was the first quarter of growth in two years for the country.
The actual GDP figures for the first quarter of the year will be published by the National Statistics Institute on June 8, according to its data. Romania entered recession in the first quarter of 2009, which was the second quarter when the GDP went down.
