Romania ranks 10th in Europe based on growth in number of foreign tourists
Romania welcomed 10 percent more foreign tourists in the first five months of 2014 compared to the same period the previous year, according to data from the National Statistics Institute INS, shows a statement of the Department for SMEs, Business Environment and Tourism (DIMMMAT).
According to the report of the European Commission for Tourism, in the second quarter of 2014, Romania ranks 10th out of 23 countries based on the growth of tourists arrivals in Europe.
Romania ranks fourth based on the number of tourists that arrived from China, fifth when it comes to the number of tourists from the Netherlands, seventh in terms of tourist arrivals from the US and ninth based on the number of tourists that arrived from the UK and France. When it comes to the number of tourists from Germany, Romania ranks 10th.
Romania also registered a 20 percent year-on-year increase in the number of tourists who come to the country via cruise ships.
