Romania ranks 6th in EU for number of jobs created via FDI
Romania ranked 6th in Europe for the number of newly created jobs through foreign direct investment (FDI) last year, with over 12,000 jobs, 17% more compared to 2014, according to EY European Attractiveness Survey 2016.
Foreign direct investment in Europe reached a historic high, with 5,083 projects that generated 217,666 new jobs.
Western Europe continues to be the most attractive destination for FDI in Europe, accumulating 77% of all projects. Britain, Germany, and France together hold over half (51%) of the registered FDI projects throughout the EU.
Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) generated half of all jobs, as the region attracted 69% of the FDI projects in the manufacturing sector. Poland saw 117 projects in this sector, up 34% over the previous year, followed by Turkey, with 105 projects, up 52% year-on-year. Serbia came next, with 51 projects, up 76% year-on-year, and Romania, with 51 projects, up 21% year-on-year.
