Romania ranks 7th for new wind turbines
Romania mounted last year 50% fewer wind turbines compared to 2013, but the local market still climbed one position in the European top of the biggest wind energy markets.
It ranked 10th for its whole capacity and 7th for the new turbines installed last year.
Investments in wind projects in the EU amounted last year to EUR 12.1 - 18.7 billion, according to the European Wind Energy Association, reports local Ziarul Financiar.
Onshore wind projects attracted between EUR 8.9 - 12.8 billion, whereas the offshore projects received between EUR 4.2 - 5.9 billion.
The emerging markets of Central and Eastern Europe installed in 2014 838 MW, namely 7.1% of all new capacities.
In 2013, their share amounted to 16%, but it dropped due to the changes in Romania’s legislation and the uncertainties related to Poland’s support scheme.
