Romania ranks 8th in EU on exports growth

Romania reported the 8th growth in exports in the EU in the first seven months of this year, of 26 percent, compared to the same period in 2010, according to Eurostat. The largest increase in exports was recorded in Estonia with a growth of 51 percent, followed by Malta with 47 percent and Greece with 39 percent.

Romania’s imports also reported a growth of 19 percent in January-July, 2011, and the country’s trade deficit went down from EUR 5.5 billion in first seven months of 2010, to EUR 5.3 billion in the same period this year. Thus, Romania’s exports amounted to EUR 25.8 billion, while the imports stood at a value of EUR 31.1 billion.
