Romania ranks below Botswana and Gabon in top of richest countries in the world, study finds

Romania ranks 68th among the richest countries in the world, out of 182 countries analyzed, with a GDP per capita of USD 12,131, below countries like Botswana, Equatorial Guinea and Gabon, according to a survey conducted by Global Finance, which takes into account gross domestic product (GDP) per capita. Botswana had in 2010, a GDP per capita of USD 14,784, while Gabon is the country with a GDP of nearly USD 15,000 per capita.

According to the analysis, Qatar is the richest country in the world. Thus, if in 2008, the GDP per capita was over USD 84,000, two years later, the indicator rose to more than USD 90,000. The following countries in terms of welfare of the inhabitants are two European countries, Luxembourg and Norway, where the GDP fell slightly compared with the year before the economical crisis.
