Romania ranks first among European countries at International Physics Olympiad in Kazakhstan

Romanian students won a total of five medals at the International Physics Olympiad organized in Kazakhstan. Thus, Romania came first among the European countries and ranked 10th in the world, reads a statement of the Education Ministry.

The two gold medals went to Cristian Alexandru Frunza and Stefan Eniceicu. The silver medals were won by Denis Turcu and Tudor Cretu, while Gabriel Gaitan got bronze.

This year’s edition of the Olympiad was organized in Astana, Kazakhstan, between July 13 and July 21. The competition gathered over 190 competitors from 48 countries.
