Romania ranks mid-way in prosperity index, outrun by Bulgaria, Tunisia, Trinidad and Tobago
Romania ranks mid-way, on the 51 spot, in this year’s Legatum Prosperity Index, which includes 110 countries, behind countries like Bulgaria, Tunisia, Panama and Trinidad and Tobago but above Mexico, Russia, South Africa or Turkey. The index takes into account a variety of factors including wealth, economic growth, personal wellbeing, and quality of life. Romania ranks 51st, between Kazakhstan and Thailand, while neighbors Bulgaria and Hungary are ranked 46 and 34, respectively. The top ten most prosperous countries in 2010 are Norway, Denmark, Finland, Australia, New Zeeland, Sweden, Canada, Switzerland, the Netherlands and the United States.
