Romania ranks sixth among the nations that have contributed to missions in Afghanistan, and 23 Romanians lost their lives in such missions, according to minister of defense Mircea Dusa.

“More than 25,000 troops operated in Afghanistan in 12 years, which placed our country sixth among nations that contributed with troops to this country. Unfortunately, our participation in these operations also demanded sacrifices: 23 Romanian heroes were killed in Afghanistan, while three other lost their lives in Iraq and Bosnia-Herzegovina. 160 Romanian soldiers have also been wounded,” said Dusa, reports local Capital.
