Romania records third largest growth in EU

Romania recorded the third largest economic growth in the European Union in the last quarter of 2015, according to EU’s statistical office Eurostat.

Romania’s GDP rose by 3.8% in the last three months of last year compared to the same period in 2014. Its growth was surpassed only by Sweden (4.5%), the Czech Republic and Slovakia, both with a 4% increase.

Greece was the only country in the EU that recorded a drop of 0.8%.

The GDP rose by 1.6% year-on-year in the euro zone, whereas the economy increased by 1.9% in the European Union.
