Romania’s Embassy in Kyiv resumes its activity

16 May 2022

Foreign affairs minister Bogdan Aurescu said on May 14 that Romania resumed activities at its Embassy in Kyiv.

“Very glad to announce that starting today the Romanian Embassy in Kyiv has resumed its activity on the ground. Romania fully stands with its partner Ukraine in its bold fight for freedom!” - reads the Romanian minister’s message on Twitter.

Romania decided to suspend the activity of its Embassy in the Ukrainian capital on February 26, not long after Russia launched its invasion of the country. The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a press release at that time, announcing the successful repatriation of the Embassy staff to Romania.

Minister Aurescu announced Romania’s plans to reopen its Embassy in Kyiv about a month ago.
