Romania reports second highest increase in EU on construction activity in August

Romania had the second highest increase in EU on construction activity in August 2011, of 6.3 percent, compared to the same month last year, according to Eurostat. The first place is occupied by Poland with 10.6 percent, while Romania is followed by Germany, with 5.2 percent. The largest decreases were recorded in Slovenia, where the construction output went down by 32.8 percent, Hungary, down 12,3, and Poland, down 10 percent.

Compared with July 2011, Romania’s construction output decreased by 4.5 percent, followed by Slovakia, where the construction activity went down by 2.3 percent. Increases were reported in Portugal with 7.6 percent, France with 3.2 percent, and Hungary with 1.5 percent.
