Romania, second sought after destination for new international retailers
Romania ranks second among 69 countries in the world based on how many international retailers entered the local market last year, according to a recent top released by CB Richard Ellis. The country went up five places from the previous year. The United Arab Emirates came first in the ranking last year.
Three new shopping malls opened in Romania in 2009, while the country attracted nine new retailers – a similar number as Kuwait. The capital city Bucharest ranked 18th out of 150 cities based on the number of new entries in retail, according to the top. The city hosts 25 percent of international retailer names, which placed Bucharest mid-way in the top of cities. The CBRE study included 294 international retailers from 69 countries.
