Romania sees highest monthly increase in construction in EU
Romania recorded the highest monthly increase in construction work (+5.1%) in January compared to the previous month of all the EU states.
It was followed by Hungary (+ 4.6%) and Slovakia (+ 3.3%).
At the opposite pole were Slovenia (-12.3%) and Belgium (-4.6%), according to a report released on Friday by the European statistical office Eurostat.
In the European Union, the construction work dropped by 1.5% in January compared to December 2016. The negative evolution was related to the decrease in civil engineering (-5.2%) and in the construction of buildings (-0.7%).
In the euro zone, construction work went down by 6.2% in January compared to the previous month.
