Romania sees improvements in online tax payment
Almost 250 municipalities have registered in the National Electronic Online Payment System - Ghiseul.ro between 2011 and 2016. The system has seen 250,000 payments so far amounting to over EUR 15.5 million.
The online platform allows taxpayers to pay their taxes by card. The payments carried out via the Ghiseul.ro platform in the first four months of this year accounted for almost a third of all payments made since the platform has been launched.
Between January and April this year, taxpayers carried out almost 76,000 transactions via the online platform. These were worth over EUR 46.6 million.
Communications Minister Marius Bostan announced yesterday that the Romanian working abroad will be able to pay local taxes by any card starting in about one month. Until now, they could pay their taxes only by cards issued in the country.
