Romania sees overdue loans up 2.8% month-on-month in November

Overdue loans went up by 2.8 percent month-on-month in November in Romania, to some EUR 5 billion, according to the country's Central Bank (BNR). Overdue loans cover 9.7 percent of all loans, up from 9.5 percent and the end of October. The weight of overdue loans was of 7.7 percent at the end of 2010.

Romanians found it harder to pay back loans in the local currency RON, where 11.7 percent of the loans are overdue. For loans in foreign currency, overdue loans cover 8.6 percent of the total.

The total value of loans in Romania was of some EUR 51.9 billion at the end of November, slightly up on the end of the previous month.
