Romania sees the highest increase in construction work in the EU in June

Construction work increased by 3.5% month-on-month in Romania in June, this being the highest increase in the EU, according to recent data from the European statistics office Eurostat. Construction work fell by 1.9% in the euro area and by 1.1% in the EU28.

The highest increases were registered by Romania (3.5%), Bulgaria (2.6%), and the UK (2.5%), while the largest decreases were reported in Germany (-4.5%), Poland (-4.2%), Sweden (-2.7%) and France (-2.5%).

Compared to the same month in 2014, Slovenia (-12.2%), France (-6.8%), Poland (-4.7%) and Germany (-3.9%) registered the largest decreases in June 2015. On the other hand, Slovakia (+24.1%), the Netherlands (+15.8%), Romania (+13.1%) and Sweden (+10.8%) reported the highest growths.

In June 2015 compared with June 2014, construction work fell by 2.3% in the euro area and by 0.4% in the EU28.
