Rejection rate in Romania's Start-Up Nation program stays at 8%

The rejection rate in the state-funded Start-Up Nation program remains at 8%, said yesterday the business environment minister Ilan Laufer.

In total, about 4,000 projects have already been assessed or are currently under evaluation.

The minister presented yesterday the first 20 projects that will receive financing via the Start-Up Nation program. In total, they will get RON 3.98 million (EUR 872,000) and will create 155 new jobs. These projects are in the bakery sector, garment industry and software development.

The Start-Up Nation program received a total number of 19,296 applications. The ministry will be able to finance only 45% of the total eligible projects.

The program has a maximum budget of RON 1.7 billion (EUR 373 million) for this year, and each project can receive up to RON 200,000 (EUR 44,000).
