Romania suffers 36% drop in foreign direct investments

Foreign direct investment went down by 36 percent in the first 11 months of 2011 compared to the same period of 2010, to some EUR 1.6 billion, according to data from the Romanian Central Bank (BNR). These investments covered only 38 percent of the current account deficit in the country.

Foreign investment was EUR 2.5 billion in 2010, in itself a 25 percent drop on the year before. They financed half of the country's current account deficit.
