Romania supports kids from poor families to go to kindergarten
Some 110,000 Romanian kids aged 3 to 6 who come from poor families could receive vouchers of RON 50 (EUR 11.2) per month starting January 1, next year, said Labor Minister Rovana Plumb.
The social voucher should be used to buy food, clothes, toys or school supplies, products that would help these children go to kindergartens. The program would have a budgetary impact of EUR 8.8 million per year, she added.
The voucher can’t be exchanged for cash, but can only be used to buy certain products. It will be given to kids from poor families whose income per family member doesn’t exceed twice the minimum guaranteed income, said the Labor Minister.
The voucher will be awarded, however, only if kids attend kindergarten.
