18 June 2012

Romania supports the idea of building a new bridge over the Danube, to Ruse in Bulgaria, as it would contribute to population mobility and help businesses, according to the Ministry of Regional Development and Tourism (MDRT). Romania and Bulgaria will analyze the possibility to build this bridge and the impact over the business environment.

Marcel Bolos, state secretary in MDRT recently met his Bulgarian counterpart Nikolina Nikolova in a public debate over the Danube Strategy.

Romania and Bulgaria agreed in 2000 to build a second bridge over the Danube, connecting Calafat and Vidin, but work on this project is ongoing.

Bulgaria will collaborate with Turkey and Qatar in building a 300 km highway connecting Ruse to Svilengrad, at the border with Greece and Turkey.
