Romanian troops and ships take part in a large military exercise in the Black Sea. The Marasesti Frigate and Contraamiral Eustatiu Sebastian corvette, together with a group of EOD divers and staff officers, represent the Romanian Naval Forces at the Sea Breeze multinational exercise.

The exercise takes place in the Ukrainian territorial waters and in the international waters of the Black Sea until September 11. Some 2,500 troops from Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, Italy, UK, the Republic of Moldova, Romania, the US, Sweden, Turkey, and Ukraine will conduct exercises on the sea, the land, and in the air.

Sea Breeze includes specific activities for land, air, and naval forces. The exercise is part of the package of measures taken to increase confidence and security in the Black Sea, and of the NATO Immediate Assurance Measures.

Romania’s participation in the exercise is included in the Romanian Navy’s Plan of Activities for 2015, and contributes to creating trust between NATO partners and the countries that are part of the Partner for Peace PfP program, according to a statement of the Romanian Navy.
