Romania team return from Balkan Athletics Championships for Juniors with 24 medals
Romanian athletes won nine gold medals, six silver and nine bronze ones at the Balkan Athletics Championships for Juniors, which recently took place in Turkey. Romania managed to win the podium both in the men's and women's competitions, with 147.5 and 148 points, respectively. In both cases, it was ahead of Turkey and Greece.
The gold medals winners were Florentina Marincu (in picture), for triple jump and long jump, Maria Baboi at 100 meters running, Lenuţa Burueană for the discus throwing, Maria Ifteni for the 3,000 meters race, Cristian Scanghel for triple jump, Cristian Tăut, in the 800 meters race, and Gabriel Bitan, long jump and relay.
Silver went to Iuliana Leonte for the 1,500 meters race, Adelina Sandu, for the 100 meters hurdles, Ionuţ Manea for gthe high jump, Cosmin Trofin for the 1,500 meters race, Ionuţ Drăguşin for his 3,000 meters running, and Rareş Toader for the shot put.
Bronze medals were won by Diana Bogoş for the 800 meters race, Andreea Timofei for the 400 meters run, Claudia Prisecaru for the 2,000 meters hurdles, Lenuţa Burueană, shot put and relay, Ioan Melnicescu, 100 meters race, Rareş Toader, discus throw, Călin Gorcea, 400 meters race and Andrei David for the javelin throw.
