Romania, the first country in Europe where Uber launches its premium service

17 November 2015

The popular ridesharing service Uber has announced it would launch its UberSELECT premium service in Bucharest. This makes Romania the first European country where the service becomes available, according to a press release by Uber.

The UberSELECT service offers its users access to premium cars such as Audi A4, Volkswagen Passat, and Skoda Octavia, as opposed to UberX, the version currently available in Bucharest, which mostly offers low-cost vehicles.

The Uber app, which was launched in Romania in February this year, has registered a fast increase in the number of users. The number of rides taken via Uber has reached tens of thousands each week, according to Nicoleta Schroeder, general manager Uber Romania.

“We are truly impressed with the positive response from users and partner drivers in the city. We have also got many messages from Bucharesters who were asking for a premium version of the service,” Schroeder said.
