Romania to grant May 2 day off to boost seaside kick off season sales
Romanians are likely to enjoy a long weekend starting May 1, as the Government plans to grant May 2, a Friday, a free day, alongside the official day off on May 1.
The extra free day should be recovered on a later date, most likely during the weekend, said Prime Minister Victor Ponta.
The decision was lobbied for by the Association to Promote the Romanian Seaside, whose representatives said the long weekend will help boost sales on the seaside. May 1 is traditionally a day when young Romanians go to the seaside for the first time during the year.
