Romania to send over 100 athletes to London Olympics with high medal hopes. Full list available
Romania will send 104 athletes to the Olympics in London this summer, covering 15 sports, including some events in which Romania has recently received gold medals at the European Championships. Romania's best athletes will be out in force at the Olympics set to start on July 27 in London and to end on August 12. Romania's team will also include 60 officials.
Romania received gold and silver medals at recent European Kayak and Canoe Flatwater Championship in Zagreb. The Canoe 2 team Liviu Dumitrescu and Victor Mihalachi won the gold medal at the 1,000 meters canoe race in Zagreb. The full list of kayak – canoe athletes competing for Romania in London is below.
Several Romanian gymnasts won silver and gold medals at the European gymnastics championship in Brussels in May. For the individual performances, Sandra Izbasa won gold at the vault session, while Catalina Ponor struck gold on the beam and silver for her floor performance. Larisa Iordache won the gold medal for her floor exercise and silver for her beam performance. The full list of Romanian gymnasts for the London Olympics below.
Also, team Romania have already picked up a good crop of medals at the European Fencing Championships in June.
Romania's Olympic team will wear official clothing created by the fashion house Ivan Patzaichin, which worked with designer Olah Gyarfas.
