Romania trains 1 million with EU funding for HR development
Over one million Romanians have been trained with EU funding so far, part of the EUR 4.2 billion program that allows Romania to develop its human resources. The POSDRU program thus achieved 64 percent of its target for the 2007-2013 period. The EU fund absorption rate for HR funding was of 5.5 percent.
Employees, unemployed or people with disabilities took part in the trainings.
The European Affairs Ministry wants to make it simpler to check how EU money was spent. One of the plans is to eliminate the administrative checking of expenses below RON 1,000.
Payments on POSDRU started in 2008 and so far, 2,400 contracts with companies, NGOs, universities and city halls were signed for training programs. The total value of these contracts is of EUR 3.5 billion, and the beneficiaries received some EUR 1 billion so far.
