Romania could have trial period for mobile subscriptions

05 August 2016

Romanian telecom regulator ANCOM considers introducing a trial period for mobile phone subscriptions, according to the ANCOM strategy for 2016-2020.

This would allow consumers to cancel their subscriptions within the first days after concluding the contracts if they were not happy with the services. They wouldn’t have to pay any penalties or bring explanations.

The measure would increase the consumers’ protection, said Catalin Marinescu, ANCOM president. This would apply only to subscriptions that don’t include subsidised phones or tablets.

ANCOM came up with the idea, after receiving 100 complaints for mobile phone services between 2015 and 2016.
