Romania ups food and livestock imports and exports
Romania’s food and livestock exports totaled EUR 902 million in the first quarter of 2015, up by 7% compared to the same period of 2014.
Imports reached EUR 1.06 billion and were 11.8% higher than in the first three months of last year, according to data from Romania’s National Statistics Institute (INS), cited by local Agerpres. The trade deficit on this segment thus increased to EUR 157 million.
Some 157,000 people worked in Romania’s food industry in the first quarter of 2015. The average net salary in this industry was some EUR 280 per month.
