Romania wants compulsory first aid classes in schools and universities

09 March 2016

Romania’s Parliament may pass a law that makes first aid classes compulsory in local schools and universities.

On Wednesday, the Chamber of Deputies tacitly passed an amendment to the national education law, which introduces the “first aid notions” subject in the pre-university and university mandatory school curriculum.

The Government does not support this legislative amendment and submitted this point of view to the Parliament, reports local Mediafax. “We mention that the school curriculum currently includes the “health promotion and health education discipline” optional subject, which also includes first aid notions,” according to the Government.

The Senate is to give the final vote on this project, which has been initiated by Romanian deputy Tudor Ciuhodaru, a doctor at the Iasi Emergency Hospital.
