Romania wants European money for 16 large infrastructure projects
Romania has proposed to the European Commission a list of 16 large infrastructure projects to be financed from the European Strategic Investments (ESIS). The fund provides EUR 315 billion for infrastructure projects in 17 countries.
Romania wants to expand the Baneasa airport, and also build a new terminal for the Otopeni airport. It plans to build 121 kilometers of highway between Craiova and Pitesti, and the Bucharest South Belt, stretching over 48 kilometers. Another project involves the maintenance of the Bucharest – Constanta (A2) and Bucharest – Pitesti (A1) highways.
In the railway sector, Romania plans to modernize and electrify the railway line between Constanta and Mangalia, stretching over 44 kilometers.
