Romanian authorities want to promote the country as a safe destination. The idea came to the Minister Delegate for Tourism Florin Jianu, who noticed that the cruise ships on the Black Sea no longer stop in troubled Ukraine’s Odessa, but rather in Constanta at the Romanian seaside, according to Digi24.

The minister wants to promote Romania’s safety as a means to attract more foreign tourists. In previous years, the country’s tourism promotion campaigns focused on Romania’s every surprising, eternal and fascinating features, and highlighted Dracula’s castle and the Carpathian Garden.

However, the number of tourists stayed around the 1.7 million mark a year, despite the over EUR 10 million invested in large tourism campaigns in the last 20 years. The Romanian Government will allot several tens of millions of euros of EU funding in the next 12 months to promote Romania abroad.
