Romania wants to break world record with biggest number of selfies taken simultaneously
Romania joins the increasingly popular selfie trend and even tries to break a world record by gathering the biggest number of self – photos taken at the same time.
Promoting the new Romanian film #Selfie, the ambitious aim is to gather 1,000 people who will take pictures of themselves in the crowd gathered at the Mission on the beach in Romanian seaside resort Mamaia. This will happen on May 1, at 20,00. All pictures have to be added to a special site - record.selfieyourmovie.com - in order to validate the record.
The film #Selfie will premiere on May 9 across Romanian cinemas (trailer below). The film follows three teenagers who run to the seaside just days before their final highschool exams, to have the time of their lives.
The most famous selfie in the world so far is the one made by Ellen DeGeneres and a group of famous actors during the Oscars show (pictured below).
The tweeted selfie was seen by 37 million people and was valued at as much as USD 1 billion by Publicis CEO Maurice Levy. Actors Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Julia Roberts, Brad Pitt, Meryl Streep, Kevin Spacey appeared in the photo, which was later revealed to have been unconventional advertising for Samsung.
A selfie is a photograph that one takes of oneself, and typically uploaded to social media.
