Romania welcomes the first refugees
Although Romania is not the refugees’ first choice, 15 immigrants arrived in the country on March 3. They are part of a first wave of refugees allocated to Romania through the relocation mechanism.
The 15 men, women and children came to Romania from Greece. They will stay at a refugees center in Galati.
This year, Romania should receive more than 2,300 migrants, although the local centers for refugees offer only 1,000 accommodation places, reports local Stirileprotv.ro. A quarter of all the accomodation places are at the center in Galati.
