Romanian AdePlast signs with German Meffert for Dufa production and distribution in Romania, Bulgaria
Romanian construction materials producer AdePlast recently signed an agreement with German Meffert to run the Dufa operations in Romania and Bulgaria. AdePlast's Paints division took over Dufa's sales, distribution and customer care in Romania, and its production was transferred to AdePlast's factory in Oradea. Once the Romanian producer's factory in Ploiesti is finished in June this year, it will also be used for Dufa production. In the meantime, Dufa's premium products will be imported from Germany, from Meffert's factories. AdePlast will also produce for the German group, under a private label, mortars, adhesives and polystyrene for the German, Hungarian and Ukrainian markets.
AdePlast sold EUR 1.7 million worth of paint and decorative dye in 2012, while Dufa's sales in Romania in 2012 amounted to EUR 1.9 million. The Romanian companies expect a significant markup on the cumulative sales in 2012 of the two brands for this year, according to Bogdan Pîrvu, director of the paints division with AdePlast.
AdePlast is owned by Romanian investor Marcel Barbut and was founded in Oradea, in 1994. The company now owns two production units, at Oradea for paint and Ploiesti for polystyrene. Annual capacity reaches 700,000 tonnes of mortar and 800,000 tonnes of tincture, decorative coating and special humid adhesives.
Dufa Romania was sold in 2005 to investment fund Advent International, which held the rights to sell under the Dufa brand until 2010. In 2011, Dufa returned to the Romanian market together with two other local businessman Liviu Stan and Irinel Gheorghe.
