A Romanian has produced a film starring and based on a book written by actor James Franco and directed by Gia Coppola, Francisc Ford Coppola’s granddaughter. Romanian Adriana Rotaru is one of the producers of the film Palo Alto, which is based on a book written by actor James Franco.

The Romanian is known for her collaboration with Francisc Ford Coppola in the last eight years, including as a production director for the film Youth without Youth.

Rotaru, who is based in Los Angeles, shares the producer seat for the Pal Alto feature length film with Sebastian Pardo, Miles Levy and Vince Jolivette.

Palo Alto, which also stars Emma Roberts, Jack Kilmer and Val Kilmer, premiered at the Tribeca Film festival in New York earlier in April. This was the debut film of film director Gia Coppola, and was produced by James Franco’s company Rabbit Bandini Productions.

The film will be screened in American cinemas on May 2. Trailer below.
