Romanian agriculture group Agricover reaches EUR 250 mln sales mark
Romanian agriculture group Agricover saw its business grow by 19 percent in 2013, to EUR 251 million, with positive developments on all business segments, according to a company announcement.
Agricover is an integrated company which offers complete solutions to local farmers, such as financing, providing seeds, fertilizers and other products for agriculture, as well as buying crops which the group then resells to food processors.
The group’s main divisions are Agricover Cereale, which warehouses and trades grains, Agricover IFN, which offers financing solutions for farmers, and Agricover Livestock, which connects local animal farms with food processors.
Agricover Cereale traded over 700,000 tons of cereals last year while Agricover IFN financed 1,300 farmers with over EUR 145 million. Agricover Livestock also bought some 160,000 pigs from 90 independent local farms and 13 million tons of milk, which it sold to meat and dairy producers.
Agricover is one of the largest agriculture companies in Romania. It is controlled by Iranian businessman Jabar Kanani, who also owns the alcoholic beverages producer Prodal ’94.
