Romanian Aldis' owner dies in motorboat accident

George Naghi, owner of meat processor Aldis, based in Calarasi, southeastern Romania, died Sunday afternoon in a motorboat accident on Danube River’s Borcea arm, according to Mediafax newswire. The Romanian businessman was in the boat with his wife, who suffered severe injuries. She is now hospitalized in Calarasi County’s Emergency Hospital.

The motorboat, which was driven by George Naghi, hit the riverbank and the two were thrown out of the boat, according to the Romanian authorities.

Aldis represents an investment of EUR 70 million, with a capacity of 150 tonnes of products per day. The company is one of Romania's top meat product manufacturers.
