Romanian app gets EUR 300,000 from angel investor

Urby, a local app created by the Sibiu-based firm Eventya Co, has received a EUR 300,000 financing from an angel investor, reports Startupcafe.ro.

The app lets users know which are the trendiest events and places in different cities. The app is currently available in Romania’s biggest cities, such as Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Timisoara, Iasi, Brasov, and Sibiu.

Urby will use the financing to launch in several countries in Europe, including the Netherlands, France, Germany, Austria or Poland. The first cities targeted for expansion are Amsterdam and Berlin.

The app is based on a set of recommendation algorithms through which users automatically generate rankings with the best events, restaurants, and clubs in a city.
