Romanian arrested in Oslo, Norway after stealing a giant TV by hiding it under her skirt

14 August 2012

A Romanian woman was arrested in Oslo, Norway, after having left a store with a huge, one meter diagonal color TV between her legs, hiding it under her skirt. Police arrested the woman, accompanied by her boyfriend, after she stumbled out of a shop in the Norwegian capital, hiding the TV worth over EUR 3,800 under her skirt.

Apparently the woman managed to carry the large TV caught between the legs to a nearby bus stop. But fortunately the employee had alerted the police, who arrested her on the bus, British newspaper the Daily Mail reports.

"It is not uncommon for thieves to put something under the skirts and broad sweaters," said Tor Grøttom, of the Oslo Police. "But we asked ourselves first if it was possible, then we tried it at the police station with a policewoman. It is difficult but not impossible", he added.

The woman, dubbed "Thunder Thighs" by a radio show, is aged 31 years and is still in police custody being questioned about other robberies committed in Norway. This theft is the "strangest" recorded in Scandinavia during the last decade, the Daily Mail comments.
