Romanian autogas market, up 10% year-on-year

21 June 2011

The liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) market's volume stands at about 440,000 tonnes sold annually in Romania, the autogas covering about 45 percent of the market, an increase of over 10 percent compared to the previous year, according to the Romanian company Syscom 18. The increases were recorded due to the price of LPG that stands at half of the price of gasoline. The LPG market is made of autogas, gas tanks for home use and gas sold in bulk.

Romania seems to stay within the European trend on the LPG segment, which is widely promoted as a viable alternative to conventional fuels, both directly through legislation, and through car manufacturers that provide cars equipped with LPG installations from the factory, accosing to Syscom 18.

“It is clear that in coming years the LPG consumption will increase. Therefore it is important for providers to expand their offer, but at the same time to deliver services safely, away from the risk of gas leaks or explosions which can occur when systems are not checked or used properly”, said Ion Andronache, president of Syscom 18. Extensive demands of LPG on the local market also determines growth in demand for equipments needed to implement and control systems and facilities.
