Romanian – born actor Sebastian Stan to appear in nine Marvel films based on comic books
An American actor of Romanian origin will appear in nine films inspired by Marvel's comic books. Actor Sebastian Stan signed a contract with Marvel Studios, which expands their collaboration beyond the recently launched Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
Stan, 30, born in the Romanian seaside city of Constanta, plays one of the main characters in the film, Bucky Barnes, or Winter Soldier. The film recently premiered in the US, and will premiere in Romania too on April 4.
The film also stars Chris Evans as Captain America, Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff / Black Widow, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Robert Redford as Alexander Pierce. Bucky Barnes, the character played by Sebastian Stan, was Captain America's sidekick in the first film of the series, but returned as a villain in the sequel. [trailer below]
Stan performed in the first film in the Captain America franchise in 2011, and signed contracts for nine films in total based on comic books, according to international media.
Sebastian Stan left Romania when he was 8, following his mother, a pianist, to Vienna and then New York. He studied at the Mason Gross Arts University within the Rutgers University, as well as at the Shakespeare's Globe Theatre in London.
His breakthrough was with the role of Jack Benjamin in the drama Kings. He also appears in the Black Swan and in Captain America: The First Avenger.
