Romanian brands make a quarter of this year's Superbrands, German and media brand dominate ranking

Romanian brands made up only a quarter of brands included in the 2013 edition of the Superbrands program.

Around 300 brands in total qualified for the Superbrand statute this year, with German brands and media brands dominating the top 15.

Pampers, Mercedes-Benz, Dr. Oetker, BMW, Ariel, National Geographic Channel, Samsung, Gillette, Bosch, Audi, Antena 1, Pro TV, Facebook, Discovery Channel, Nivea top the rankings this year, chosen by Romanians for their reputation, high quality and trustworthiness.

The Romanian brands which made it into the top were Antena 1, PRO TV, BCR, Banca Transilvania, Catena, Borsec, Napolact, Timișoreana, Plafar, Ursus, Scandia Sibiu, eMag, Dedeman, Bunica, Radio Zu.

The Superbrands Council, made of 25 specialists in management, marketing, communication and branding evaluated almost 1,400 brands in 52 categories.

The study, done by Superbrands Romania and market research company IPSOS, narrowed the field to 578 brands, which were tested on a group of 1,500 Romanian consumers from urban areas.

Following further research and a vote, number was reduced to 300.
